A Christmas Carol read by Monica Dickens

This is an interesting article by Alison Flood in The Guardian's book blog about a recording of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol by his great-grandaughter Monica Dickens, the link is here.

I'm reading A Christmas Carol to Billy at the moment for his bedtime book. I was a little bit worried that the ghosts might be a bit frightening for him, but so far so good.

  1. Ashamed to say I've not read a great many novels by Charles Dickens, but I do love A Christmas Carol. I can see the appeal for children, too.

  3. Thank you so much for the link to the recording by Monica Dickens reading "A Christmas Carol." And how wonderful that you are reading your son the book. He will always remember that. My daughters have vivid memories of my reading them "A Christmas Memory" by Truman Capote. Have a wonderful Christmas with your son!

  4. Nicola - I'm a big Dickens fan. I'm looking forward to the BBC adaptation of Great Expectations which starts tonight on BBC1

Mary - Hello! Thank you for commenting, I'll certainly try and check out those reviews.

Sunday - Billy really enjoyed the book, and didn't find it too scary. We then watched A Muppet's Christmas Carol - just to reinforce the story!
